KW Special Projects (KWSP) and the Digital Manufacturing Centre (DMC) have aligned to offer a comprehensive engineering to production pathway. Combining KWSP’s end-to-end programme delivery with the DMC’s world-class additive manufacturing, the two businesses are providing automotive OEMs and other advanced sectors with a highly skilled and agile external partner for niche projects.
Following KWSP’s recent move to Silverstone Park right beside Silverstone Circuits, it has strengthened its connection and collaboration with sister company, the DMC. The DMC is a manufacturing engineering and production solutions provider that uses the latest metal and polymer additive manufacturing and finishing technologies, harnessing Industry4.0 workflow for production quality and efficiency. Its in-house engineering team specialise in design for manufacture (DFM) – from one-off components through to serial production – and can also design specific components for application.
Now that the two businesses are operating in close proximity, customers without the in-house ability or capacity to take initial concepts to production and validation can benefit from the combined capabilities of KWSP and the DMC. In such projects, the teams from both businesses work closely together in a proven and validated process, from early engineering requirements through to development, testing, production, assembly and ongoing support.
KWSP follows industry-recognised programme management gateways, practices that have evolved from the successful delivery of programmes for automotive OEMs. At the same time, the DMC has implemented numerous quality systems and production ‘prove off’ processes with complete traceability and robust programme management, all aligned with KWSP and automotive OEM practices.
Together, the companies have invested extensively in developing these capabilities, including enterprise resource planning (ERP), Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Quality Management Systems (QMS), and more. With an in-house inspection department, KWSP and DMC meet aerospace AS9000 and ISO 9001 certifications. Additionally, both companies adhere to a shared set of Environmental & Sustainability policies.
